Dear Parents, Students, and Community Members,
As the Principal at Pershing Continuation High School, it is an honor to have the opportunity to serve you. It is my desire to work with parents, students, staff and community members to foster student achievement and provide a positive, supportive environment for all school members.
At Pershing, our small school setting provides an alternative for high school students who need additional support in earning their high school diploma. Some of our students stay at Pershing for a semester or two to catch up on needed credits, while others remain to receive their diploma.
In this era, it is commonly recognized that education is a lifelong process, and Pershing aims to prepare students for success in post secondary education, their choice of career, and in the community at large. This starts with providing the students a positive, structured environment focused on continuous improvement, academic excellence, character and caring.
For the 2016-17 school year, the focus for our school continues to be strengthening parent participation, bringing the community into our school, and giving our students opportunities to go out into the community for service activities.
Strong partnerships between parents and staff play an important part in student academic success; I strongly encourage you to visit our school and actively participate in your child’s education. This could come in a variety of forms including working as a volunteer for activities at the school, participating in school committees, attending school-wide events or just communicating questions or concerns to me and the teachers.
I look forward to working with you as we focus on Every Student, Every Classroom, Every Day!
